Hi, I'm Emma.

For close to a decade, I sat across from people at their most hopeful, listening to what they wanted, who they were, what made them feel truly seen. I was a matchmaker, and the work taught me something I still carry into every shoot today: the difference between a posed smile and a real one, the exact moment someone stops performing and just is themselves. That's the moment I now chase with my camera.

Coming back to photography felt less like a career change and more like coming home. I studied at design and creative arts college, majoring in fashion and portrait photography, and later added a postgraduate degree in Business Management to the mix. So when you work with me, you're getting both a trained eye and someone who understands that a photo isn't finished until it actually works for you, whether that's landing you a second look on a dating app or making a stranger trust you before you've said a word.

Emma Rose Portraits is based in Sydney, and I shoot on location around the CBD. My clients come to me for all kinds of reasons: a dating profile that finally does them justice, a LinkedIn headshot that opens doors, personal or business branding that matches who they really are, or simply a portrait with the people they love that they'll want to look at for years.

However we end up working together, you can expect the same thing from me every time: warmth, care, and enough attention to detail that by the end of our session, you forget the camera's even there.
